Sneak Peek at upcoming Spring Fling Rally, April 9-11,2010

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Our first rally of the year promises to be a good one. Starting with  ” Social Hour”, we will meet under the shelter at 4:00 PM Friday to register, enjoy snacks and catch up on everyone’s news!  The grills will be fired up for dinner at 6:00 PM and we will enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers with all the fixin’s. Saturday will include a delicious breakfast and an indoor or outdoor activity depending on the weather. Saturday night we will enjoy Italian Night, with homemade lasagne, salad and garlic bread (and desserts, of course!) Sunday will have a light breakfast and our 9:00 church service. So plan to attend and welcome Spring !

The January luncheon was a fun get-together for all.

zenzeralunch3.JPGzenzeralunch2.JPGzenzeralunch1.JPGTwenty one members and two guests braved the cold temperatures and made it to our first gathering of the new year. We met at member Chas Anderson’s Zenzera Coffee and Wine Bar in Landrum, SC. The food was very good ( the lunch was tasty but the desserts were divine!) and the company was great too. We spent a nice two hours catching up on news since our Christmas lunch and discussing briefly upcoming rallies. We will meet for another lunch in March in Simpsonville at the Silver Bay restuarant and our first camping rally will be in April. After we ate, several of us stayed in town and visited the many antique stores and galleries that  are in downtown Landrum. Safe travels to all who are heading to warmer (at least slightly) climates.

October was a great Rally month!

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

We have been very fortunate to have had two very successful rallies in October. October 9-11 we held our President’s Rally with the installation of our officers for the upcoming year. This rally was held at the same time as the “Bus Nuts”, a wonderful group who we enjoyed eating with and touring their “conversion” RVs. Their creativity and originality was inspiring. We saw a bus from 1948 and several from the 50’s, as well as many other years.

Our rally included 20 units, with 4 units visiting. Carol and Rick Bell were with us for the installation, as well as several new members.

The Carolina’s State Rally was held the following week, October 14-18. We had over 50 units attend, and although the weather did not cooperate very much, we all had a great time.  The all ukelele band “Yesterukes” was a great hit, as well as our other entertainment. There was a ladies craft that was well - liked ( a beaded bookmark) and card bingo, hiking, flea market, live and silent auction and a big used book sale. The book sale raised over $50.00 for our community service project (this month the local Riverside EMS and Fire dept.) We had a break in the weather and were able to tour 5 vintage trailers, including one from the 1950’s. We had 7 different units represented, including St Louis and Pennsylvania.  Pictures will be posted soon.
