If you missed the Feb rally, you missed a good time at Myrtle Beach!

We had 12 members and 3 guests attend the Feb rally at PirateLand Family Campground at Myrtle Beach. The weather was breezy but sunny and we enjoyed a view of the Snow Moon (Feb full moon) over the ocean on Friday night. We had Happy Hour at George and Martha’s motorhome every evening and enjoyed  delicious  seafood and a wonderful Italian meal with the group on Friday and Saturday. Add to that some relaxing (or invigorating) walks on the beach (depending on what day you were on the beach), plenty of fellowship, other good meals with friends, and you get a wonderful rally! It served as a good reminder that Spring and lots more camping is just around the corner.

One couple decided they were not ready to de-winterize their trailer and chose to stay in a rental cabin at the campground, which proved to be very comfortable and convenient. A nice alternative if you want to join the fun but don’t want to tow!

2017 Camping Rally season is just around the corner……

We held our first gathering of the new year last Saturday – lunch at the Silver Bay Seafood restaurant in Simpsonville. We had a good turnout of 23 members. Welcome to our new member Steve who joined us! All  were eager to catch up on the news and make some plans for the start of Rally season in February. It was great to see everyone who was there and those friends who did not make it were missed.

February 10-12 is our Meet at the Beach Rally in Myrtle Beach. Join us at Pirateland Campground for a fun weekend of fellowship, Krispy Kreme donuts, food, games and beach time.

June Grandkids Rally had highest attendance ever!

DSC_0615 DSC_0621 thumb_DSC_0644_1024We had 12 Grandkids attend the rally this year, a record attendance in our memory. There were several new attendees as well as our regular campers. The kids enjoyed swimming in the river behind the campground, games, a movie, make-your-own pizza, crafts and s’mores. The adults enjoyed watching the kids have fun, and wishing they had their energy! Eating was another feature of the rally, of course. We had delicious BBQ that was made by one of the grandkids, and yummy spaghetti and meat sauce.

Christmas Brunch well-attended in Greenville, SC

dec1011singalong.jpgdec-1011-bernie-jeff-and-chuck.jpgdec-1011brunch.jpgMany thanks to our hosts, Chuck and Beth Lee, for allowing us to meet at their lovely, historic home in Greenville, SC for our annual Holiday Brunch. 24 members attended this year, and we all enjoyed the festive setting, wonderful food, and beautiful piano playing provided by Beth (with some Christmas caroling lead by Luci). Dick gave us a short Holiday message. We missed Diane and Sarah who were out due to illness or injury, and all the others who were not able to attend.

Fun at the Carolina’s State Rally!

state-rally-11male-fashion.jpgstate-rally-11game-day.jpgMany folks from both North and South Carolina units pulled together to help make the 2011 Carolina’s State Rally fun and successful (and many thanks to Alicia from the South Florida unit.) The weather was a little rainy but we had pretty Fall weather for the “Day In The Park” Game Day on Friday and the Saturday Open House that welcomed interested people from the community to tour both vintage and newer Airstreams. The Male Fashion Show certainly drew some laughter, and we enjoyed fine professional entertainment other nights. The Yesterukes once again were a big hit. Generous donors and bidders made the Silent and Live Auctions a success. We had outstanding items this year that made for some competitive biddingst-rally-11mtn-view.jpgst-rally-11open-house.jpg!

We also held the Officer’s Installation on Wednesday night, other events included a  Joker tournament, Card Bingo,  crafts, and a safety lecture. Thanks to Dick Martiny and his wife from Region 3 and everyone who helped with set-up, clean-up and food. We had a great emcee and tons of help from many people. Hope to see you all next year!
