June Grandkids Rally had highest attendance ever!

DSC_0615 DSC_0621 thumb_DSC_0644_1024We had 12 Grandkids attend the rally this year, a record attendance in our memory. There were several new attendees as well as our regular campers. The kids enjoyed swimming in the river behind the campground, games, a movie, make-your-own pizza, crafts and s’mores. The adults enjoyed watching the kids have fun, and wishing they had their energy! Eating was another feature of the rally, of course. We had delicious BBQ that was made by one of the grandkids, and yummy spaghetti and meat sauce.

June Rally is for the Grandkids and our buddies

We have no Unit Rally in May due to the Region 3 Rally in Asheville. The next Unit Rally is June 6-8 and is our annual Grandkids Rally. It is also a Buddy Rally, so owners of other brand campers can join in and see what fun the Airstreamers have!  We have kid friendly meals planned for the kids (spaghetti one night and fried chicken another night) and lots of activities: movie time, night time bowling, making s’mores over a campfire, lots of crafts and of course, time at the “swimmin’ hole”.  Details to follow.

Grandkids enjoyed the June Grandkids Rally !

We had more grandkids than ever before at the June Rally – 7 were there for the whole weekend and 3 more joined us for fun on Saturday. The kids had a great time, having fun in the swimming hole, watching movies, playing cards, competing in a “minute to win it” and having their own Jalapeño Pepper eating demo by Connor!

We had lots of help and the adults had fun too. Hope we can keep growing this event each year, the more the merrier!

June Grandchildren’s Rally was “awesome”

The Grandkids Rally held June 8 thru 1o, 2012 was attended by 8 units with 7 grandkids. Attending were Connor, Drew, Emily, Hannah, Max, Rachel, and Sarah. The children enjoyed a variety of activities, including lots of crafts, a scavenger hunt, a “Minute to Win it” gameshow, making their own pizzas and fun trips to a nearby “swimming  hole.” The centerpieces for the dining tables were created by the kids and depicted the places they would most like to take their Airstream travel trailers,  places included  oceanside,  at the zoo, Mars and Nashville, TN.  Adults enjoyed watching the kids compete in a version of the gameshow “Minute to Win It” with such games as “Penny hose”, “Defying Gravity”, “Junk in your Trunk” and “Dizzy Mummy”.

Grand Kids Rally was held June 10-12 , 2011 at Palmetto Cove RV Park

june-2011-rally5.JPGjune-2011-rally4.JPGjune-2011-rally3.JPGjune-2011-rally2.JPGjune-2011-rally1.JPGWe had 9 units at our June Rally and 3 grandchildren attended: Hannah -6 years old, Max – 8 years old and Drew -9 years old. The kids enjoyed a busy weekend, doing crafts, playing games and riding their bikes in the rain! They watched Yogi Bear (the movie) and enjoyed popcorn and lemonade on Friday night, followed by some wonderful s’mores made on a fire under the shelter. Saturday morning came with pancakes and sausage on a stick (pretty tasty!) and scrambled eggs. They had a lot of craft time on Saturday due to the rain; decorating sun visors, making door decorations and a beaded bracelet. A visit to the creek rounded the day out.  What a lot of fun it was for the kids and their grandparents. These kids will have great memories of the fun times they had camping with their grandparents and their Airstreams.

We wish four of our members safe travels as they head to the International Rally. Jake and Diane are first timers but we know that Martha and George will show them the ropes. Thanks to them for representing us. Wish we could all join them! Have fun!
